As long as I can remember, I’ve loved the written word—well, it’s been
more of an obsession, really. I’ve been correcting people’s speech
since I could talk and editing their writing since I could read.
Naturally, I became editor-in-chief in yearbook and newspaper in my
senior year of high school (yeah, I was that girl). It was then that I
knew what I wanted to do with my life, and so I left the comfort of my
home in the Colorado mountains and ventured thousands of miles away to
attend one of the country’s leading journalism schools in a state I
only associated with cows and corn: the University of Missouri,

Since graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Magazine Journalism and a
Business minor, I’ve been submersing myself in the competitive
journalism industry. I cut my teeth writing and editing at a top
national small-business magazine for several years before entering the
freelance realm, where I’ve written for numerous small-business
publications and tech-related websites. Although I’m currently a
copyeditor at a leading market research firm, I still freelance, with
emphases in small business, technology, the web and the
environment—oh, and anything else on my mind that I decide is worth
blogging about.
