writer + editor

as long as I can remember, I’ve loved the written word—well, it’s been more of an obsession, really. I’ve been correcting people’s speech since I could talk and editing their writing since I could read. Naturally, I became editor-in-chief in yearbook and newspaper in my senior year of high school (yeah, I was that girl). It was then that I knew what I wanted to do with my life, and so I left the comfort of my home in the Colorado mountains and ventured thousands of miles away to attend one of the country’s leading journalism schools in a state I only associated with cows and corn: the University of Missouri, Columbia.

Since graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Magazine Journalism and a Business minor, I’ve been submersing myself in the competitive journalism industry (one that has evolved quite a bit in the past two decades!). I cut my teeth writing and editing at a top national small-business magazine for several years and then managed a burgeoning editorial department at a global market research firm before entering the freelance realm, where I’ve written for numerous small-business publications and tech-related websites. Although I have a lot of experience writing and editing about small business and tech, I also enjoy writing about travel, the outdoors and the environment – and sometimes things that rile me up.
